Leadership Academy
The Delaware Association of REALTORS® Leadership Academy is a premier leadership development program designed to enhance your leadership skills, ensuring you are READY and ABLE to serve the Delaware Real Estate industry and in turn, your REALTOR® organization effectively.
Applications are now being accepted through December 13, 2024
Our mission is to cultivate strong leaders for the future who are dedicated to preparing our industry and communities for upcoming challenges. Beyond professional development, the Leadership Academy offers personal growth opportunities that will benefit you in all areas of your life.
The Academy features six (6) monthly sessions held by the Delaware Association of REALTORS® in various locations through the state. Throughout these sessions, you will have the chance to develop, refine, and master your leadership skills. The program will also help you identify your leadership style and provide insights into the history, structure, and operations of the REALTOR® organization. In addition to the in-person sessions, participants are required to complete or hold current certifications in At Home with Diversity, Bias Override, and have completed the NAR Fair Haven Simulation.
Here’s what you need to know:
- Applicants must be a licensed real estate salesperson, associate broker, or broker in good standing with the Delaware Association of REALTORS® and local board/association.
- The application must be completed – including a letter of recommendation from your local board/association. No applications will be accepted after the due date.
- Applicants must be available to complete all sessions.
- Candidates will be notified as soon as possible if their application has been accepted.
Criteria to apply:
- Actively licensed as a Delaware real estate Salesperson, Associate Broker, or Broker.
- Primary Delaware Association of REALTORS® and local board/association member in good standing.
- Letter of recommendation from your local board/association.
- Must not have already served as an officer (President, President-elect, Treasurer) of a state or local association.
- Participation in all sessions is mandatory and must commit to the following dates in 2025:
- Tuesday January 7: Introduction to Association Governance
- Monday, January 27: Mass Media Preparation for Leaders
- Wednesday, March 26: Political Advocacy and Involvement
- Thursday, April 10: Fundamentals of Effective Leadership & Meeting Etiquette
- Thursday, June 12: Managing a Brokerage Enterprise
- In addition to the sessions listed above, Leadership Academy participants must complete and provide proof of completion of the following courses prior to graduation:
- Fair Haven Simulation
- At Home with Diversity
- Bias Override
Please note: By completing the following application, you are acknowledging your understanding of the purpose and mission of the Delaware Association of REALTORS® Leadership Academy program. If selected, you commit to dedicating the time and resources necessary to complete the program.
Sessions one (1) through six (6) are mandatory for completion. If you miss one (1) session, you will be allowed to continue with the program but will not graduate until the missed session is made up, as approved by the Committee, and not later than the next year’s program. If you miss more than one (1) session, you will be asked to withdraw and reapply when you can make the commitment. You understand the above commitment and agree to adhere to the requirements of the Academy.
