15o NEW TREES TO BE PLANTED BY DELAWARE ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®
150 guests at the Delaware Association of REALTORS®’ Refresh: Inaugural Luncheon event were given evergreen saplings to plant in the spirit of their ‘refresh’ theme this year. The event, which installed 2023 DAR President Chrissy Steele, as well as new directors and officers, served as a launching point for Steele’s goals to revive DAR offerings for members and the public.
These 150 trees will be added to the grand total for Governor John Carney’s Tree for Every Delawarean Initiative. In 2021, Gov. Carney vowed to plant a tree for every Delaware resident in the hopes of reducing greenhouse gases and their negative impacts on the environment and global warming.
In addition to Delaware’s tree planting initiative, the National Association of REALTORS® recently launched a partnership with the National Forest Foundation to plant a tree for every member, which equates to roughly 1.5 million new trees across the country.
“In the spirit of refreshing our state association’s benefits to our REALTOR® members, and being the Voice of Real Estate in Delaware, we wanted to encourage our members and guests to refresh their communities by increasing the number of trees around us,” said Wesley Stefanick, Chief Executive Officer of DAR. “This will help deliver cleaner air, enhance stormwater mitigation, and encourage biodiversity in our ecosystems. A greener Delaware is a healthier Delaware for residents and tourists alike.”
